My thoughts on this article is that Philadelphia school superintendent, Arlene Ackerman is right. Black and Latino students have lack behind whites and Asians.

Obama and the Congressional Black Caucus

The Congressional Black Caucus is an organization of elected black congressional lawmakers. The CBC was founded in January 1969. Until 1994, when voters returned a Republican House of Representatives, the CBC had been defined as an official office of Congress and was provided its own offices. The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc. is used to fund conferences, parties and other activities to benefit caucus Democratic leaders and their families. Membership in the CBC is accorded automatically to any African-American elected to the House of Representatives. The CBC consisted of 5 officers and 38 additional members. All 43 were Democrats, and 22 of them were also members of the radical Progressive Caucus in the House of Representatives. President Obama met with the Black Caucus so he can know what to prepare for the African Americans while he is in office. The Black Caucus pressed Obama to focus on hiring more minorities to federal jobs and helping small and minority-owned businesses get government contracts. They also discussed creating a health-care safety net and addressing medical disparities among minorities. I think that the relationship President Obama and the Black Caucus will have is a well grounded relationship because both Obama and the Black Caucus support eachother in what they do.

Jomo Kenyatta of Kenya

Jomo Kenyatta was born in Ng'enda at the Gatundu Division of Kiambu in 1889. His parents were Muigai and Wambui. As a boy, Kenyatta helped his grandfather, who was a medicine man.
In October 1945, Kenyatta was apart of the landmark Pan-African Congress that met in Manchester, England.Kenyatta returned to Kenya in September 1946. He became president of the Kenya Africa Union(KAU).KAU was a political party that sought to unify Kenya’s tribes. Kenyatta fought for African voting rights, the elimination of racial discrimination and the return of tribal lands. The British rejected these demands. Then the Kikuyu militants organized a terrorist underground called the Mau Mau. Kenyatta was accused of starting the Mau Mau. The KAU had connections to the Mau Mau, and in 1952 Kenyatta was imprisoned. The KAU is now the dominant black party, refused any participation in a transitional government until Kenyatta was freed. In 1961, he returned home. His captivity made him the moral leader of his people’s struggle. In December 1963 he became the first president of the Republic of Kenya. At midnight on December 12, 1963, at Uhuru Stadium, the Kenya flag was unfurled. A new nation was born. A year later on December 12, 1964, Kenya became a Republic within the Commonwealth. With Kenyatta as the President. Kenyatta died on August 22nd 1978 at 3.30 A.M. in Mombasa. He was 89 years old. President Kenyatta is acknowledged as one of the greatest men of the 20th century. His rule will go down in history as a golden era in Kenya's positive development. Some of the books by Kenyatta include: Facing Mount Kenya (1938); My People of Kikuyu and the Life of Chief Wangombe (1944); Kenya: The Land of Conflict (1944); and Harambee! (1964). I think that Kenyatta lived a positive life. Also I think that the leadership Kenyatta shown, is the type of leadership Afrikan Americans should show today.

Obama's Stimulus Package

1. The stimulus package is ways or plans in order to help the United States. The purpose of a stimulus package, in reference to the economy is to try to get everything in order for the future years. I say this because the way the economy is today, we are headed for destruction. The stimulus is necessary because it will help get the United States organized.

2. Some of the agreements are to fix our economy. Some of the disagreements are how much money should be taken to help the people that was laid off from their jobs. Obama said that

3. The spending details of the two-year package is in need of $550 billion. The spending for tax relief is $275 billion. This will create jobs because the tax relief is $275 billion. So this will enable people to get their jobs back. This money will also be going to the tax credit of $500 per worker and $1,000 for couples.
$90 billion is going to increase the federal share of Medicaid payments and $79 billion to help states avoid cutbacks in education and other services.

4. Obama emphasized in both speeches that it will take some time to get everything in order. He also emphasized that it cost alot. Such as money for our health care, money to get jobs back, and money for tax relief.

5. I think that this package will help Afrikan Americans. I think this because Afrikan Americans are apart of the United States just as any one else. I feel that racism and/or gender bias will not make a difference in the output of the package. I say this because I think president Obama will give every one an equal amount. I also think that some people will get jealous that Afrikan Americans are getting treated the same way as they are.

About me

Peace, Love, & Power. My name is Ashley Mitchell. The three main ways I like to learn is by visuals or pictures, saying or comments to start off class, and having trivia about what we learned during the week. These three things help me focus and stay active in class.

My first point is visuals or pictures. By using them, I will be able to keep up and focus more. if you would give me a 5 page packet with nothing but words, I will loose interest in class. However, I will not be able to loose interest if I can see visuals that come with the work.

My second point is starting off class by saying or comments. This will also help me because my mind could be somewhere else. When you start off with a saying, it will draw my attention to want to be active in class.

My last point is to have trivias. The trivias are fun and educational. Which would help me remember my work. So when we would have a test, I can think back to when we were playing the trivia.

The results of me being able to look at my work visually, starting out class with a saying or comment, and having trivias will help me excel in class and do the best I possibly can.

I think this song is a negative song. It can
impact childrens lives very badly. The children
would want to imitate these bad things. Which
causes the children of these times to sell and
use drugs. I also think that this song shows that
you have no self-confidence or respect for your
self. You should not let people hold you back
from what you want to be.

I think this song is saying that don't take life
for granted and to love as many people as you can
before you life is over. When you love somebody you
should go all out for them and do whatever it takes
to be with them. Also you should take chances even
if it mean to give up something you want. I think that
this song is a positive influence for children of these times.
